At Knightspire, we strive to create stories with compelling plots, unique locations, and characters full of depth. We want our universe to feel alive, and for each event to carry immense narrative impact. This thought led to the birth of the Knightverse.
The Knightverse is the world where many of our characters reside. Each character will have a separate storyline, paying special attention to their personal development. As they battle with their demons, saving the world or pushing towards their own goals, their actions will have an impact on each others’ lives and stories. The decisions of many characters combine to create the key events that occur within the Knightverse, and could change a character in unexpected – and irreversible – ways.
Groups and organisations form the cornerstones of the Knightverse. They could work for the government, a private benefactor, a crime boss, or the highest bidder. Some of our characters belong to teams, each of whom has their own mission to fulfill. Individual characters may team up from time to time, but only when it makes narrative sense. This could be in person or through other means, such as a phone call.
Characters are not the only important element of the Knightverse. Locations have a core part to play in its formation. Every building and landscape has a story to tell. Some are similar to the world that we know, for example London, but with key differences – such as vast international business investment and expansion. Other locations, such as the mysterious forest of New Sherwood, are unique to the Knightverse. Some stories will revolve around these areas, gradually uncovering their true nature and effect on the world as a whole.
Another key feature of the Knightverse is the existence of Metamorphs – genetically diverse humans who possess powers such as superior strength, control over the elements, animal-like abilities, and enhanced mental capacities. This new species of human will drive the overarching narrative forward, using their powers for both good and evil. Their existence causes great debate, and the world’s governments keep a close eye on their movements.
Pay attention to names and events mentioned in passing. They may hold great importance for a future story arc or specific character. Or perhaps they won’t. That is for you to theorise about until the truth is finally revealed.
The Knightverse begins with “Volume One: Heroes and Villains”. Stories released under this volume will explore the morality of heroes and villains, the impact of sacrifices and mistakes made, and the strength or weakness of human connections. Volume one will introduce many core themes and concepts for the future of the Knightverse, and plant the seeds for many more characters.
We will begin with 9 titles, with potential expansion in the future. These series are (in no particular order): Black Ronin, Blood Run, Hood, Aisha, Tachi, Platinum Cyber, Grace, The Night Mavericks and I Am Cyborg. Find out more about our debut entries and characters on their profile pages.
